State Representative Ford Carr received his undergraduate education from Southwestern University and completed master’s-level studies at both Southwestern and Villanova Universities. With 25 years of management and engineering experience in the aviation industry, he has been employed with major companies including Boeing, Spirit AeroSystems, Hawker Beech, Cargill, Textron, United Technologies Aerospace Systems, UTC Sikorsky, and Asco Industries, specializing in exotic metals as both a direct hire and engineering contractor as well as management positions. Beyond his professional accomplishments, he serves as Executive Director for the non-profit “Us Doing Us,” the organization behind the city’s longest running and most attended African American event over the past nine years. Under his leadership Us Doing Us also holds one of the largest and most attended Children’s Christmas Holiday toy give-a-way events in the city of Wichita. Additionally he assumes the role of Chief Operating Officer for CCC-Contractors, specializing in commercial and residential construction. He is currently on the ballot for a third term and represents the largest African American district in the state—a vibrant community of 30% African Americans, 30% Latinos, and 40% Caucasian.

Throughout his time in the Kansas legislature, Representative Carr has stood as a dedicated public servant and a steadfast advocate for his community. He works tirelessly to ensure that the voices of his constituents are heard, championing policies that promote equity, opportunity, and meaningful change across the state. He serves on the Transportation and Safety Budget Committee, the Child Welfare and Foster Care Committee, the Legislative Modernization Committee, and the Welfare Reform Committee, The Child Welfare and Foster Care oversight Joint committee, Kansas Council for Interstate Compact Adult Supervision bringing his leadership and insight to critical areas of public policy.
